Weekly Practice Log Procedure for 6th Graders
-
We would like to ask you to take an active role in your child's musical growth through the use of weekly practice logs.
-
Because of the importance of regular practice to a musicians progress, weekly practice logs are a significant part of each students letter and effort grade. However, just putting in practice time is not enough.
-
Practice sessions need to be organized and goal oriented. In order to assist students in deriving the greatest benefit from practice logs, use the following guidelines:
-
Please make sure the students name is printed clearly at the top of the form
-
Please make sure you sign the log at the end of the week. Logs WILL NOT be accepted without a parent or guardians signature.
-
Practice logs begin on Friday and are due the following Friday.
Practice logs will be graded using the following time guidelines for each week:
If goals section is not complete, grade will be reduced by one point.
25 to 39 minutes: 1/5
40-69 minutes: 2/5
70-99 minutes: 3/5
100-119 minutes: 4/5
120-129 minutes: 5/5
130-139 minutes: 6/5
over 140 minutes: 7/5
It is expected that all sixth grade band members practice at least 120 minutes per week. Please try and practice during non-band days. During some weeks, that may not be possible. DO WHAT YOU CAN!!! Some practice is better than none. Remember: it is better to turn in a practice log with 10 minutes on it rather than to not turn one in at all. NEW POLICY: LATE PRACTICE LOGS LOGS WILL HAVE 1 (one) POINT DEDUCTED FROM THE "EARNED" GRADE EACH DAY IT IS LATE UNTIL A ZERO IS REACHED. If you are absent or sick, please write that on your log so we know.
